Dolce and Vita are non-identical twin towers between Seymour and Richards Street next to the Orpheum Theatre. Collectively Paul Merrick’s design is called Symphony Place; the towers straddle the lane with a parkade intended for theatre patrons. On the Richards side there’s a thin skin of building hiding the cars, but Seymour has a glazed facade that was promised as the public art for the project. Disappointingly, it was much more exciting when originally described than can be seen in reality. The towwers were completed in 2009 and 2010, a year apart.
They replaced an older, very tied pair of parkades with a single cross-lane ramp – apparently the parkades were completed a year apart, just like the towers, but in 1957 and 58.
