When it was built on Seymour Street Elan was considered a tall tower. Designed by Merrick Architecture. Unusual (for Downtown South) industrial detailing on the townhouse windows, which really works with the heritage resoration of the building on the corner of Drake St. Now a Shoppers Drug Mart, and previously a furniture store, it started life as the truck factory and showroom of the Federal Motor Co. The BC Archives have many images of Federal Motors trucks supplied to local businesses throughout the 1920s. Next door was the Luv-a-Fair Nightclub; opened in 1975 in time to be home to an alternative music scene and the New Romantics.
